America has more coal than any nation on earth.
Almost one third of all that American coal is here, in Montana…enough to power our state for decades…
…and enough to help serve the needs of customers worldwide.
Job 1: Guarantee Montana has enough coal for our needs today and into the future. DONE!
Job 2: Create jobs and grow Montana’s economy by selling our surplus coal. DONE – but only if we stand together today and stop the effort to block new coal development in Montana.
We should be able to mine our coal, use it to generate the power we need to grow our economy and to create new high-paying jobs by selling our coal to international customers. Some Washington politicians and out of state environmental activists not only want to stop us from using our coal, they also want to stop us from selling it to countries that need it. The result: fewer coal and railroad jobs, lost revenue to education and other opportunities into the future.
“The proposed Otter Creek mine would create over 2,000 new jobs and result in $200 million in economic activity each year. Tax revenues from Otter Creek would add $92 million to state and local governments annually — allowing for tax relief for homeowners and new investment in education and infrastructure.” - Sen. Ed Walker - Billings Gazette (8/17/12)
